CUSTOM MADE SLAB TABLES
A slab table is a table cut lengthwise from one tree. It captures the natural beauty and gain of the timber and typically comes with live edges on both sides. The term “live edge” refers to the preservation of the edge of the table in its natural state (as opposed to clean cut mass-produced tables). This gives the table an authentic and rustic feel and ensures that each table is a truly unique piece. Our Hong Kong based carpenters provide you with a range of size and wood type options that will neatly fit your space. Due to its length, slab tables are a great option for coffee and dining room tables, or conference and boardroom room tables.
SLAB TABLES MADE FROM IMPORTED QUALITY WOOD
We regularly import kiln dried live edge boards from Europe and North America (mostly Oak, Walnut and Ash) to create truly unique standalone pieces for our Hong Kong customers. Slab tables are very durable and easy to maintain. They are designed to last a lifetime and elevate any living or working space.
DISTINCTIVE TABLETOP DESIGN
As each tree is grown differently, every slab table has unique properties: each board cut from a tree is a bit different, with unique colour tones, grain variations, knots and veins. We can customise every detail of your table to make sure it exactly meets your desired design style. We can add brass inlays, fill natural gaps in the surface with resin, or even add an epoxy resin tabletop, or an epoxy river style design (optionally with glass inlay) to further accentuate the look and feel of your table.
We can also help you built custom shelves that fit your new table, a bespoke desk, a custom hardwood conference room table, a custom kitchen with fitting wardrobes, or any other piece of custom wooden furniture.
Small desk in Pacific Maple
Small desk for a newly decorated apartment. Client had quite a precise vision of what they need. Small desk on harpin legs, cable opening with a brass X detail and a built in open shelf that can be covered. We have found this piece of Pacific maple, all the elements were cut from a single piece of wood to keep the continous grain on the surface.
Poplar Burl Table with Glass River
We have imported few Poplar burl slabs directly from a small mill in Poland. It has been waiting over a year to find the new owner. Burl is special wood condition where it grows in quite unpredictible manner which results in very unique wood patterns. Its higly valued by woodworkers and as much as each slab is different, there are really rare and special. We have split the piece in two, flipped inside out and convinced the client to make it a glass inlay rather than epoxy as it’s more durable and will last for longer. Placed on two simple steel legs it’s a real statement.
American Black Walnut Slab
The piece of wood for this directors desk in investment company based in Central was picked by the client himself. The Walnut slab was over 3m long, we picked the better side and used the left over to make a smaller table top. We convinced the client to go with really thick black metal legs which seemed to work really well. The top had few spectacular cracks which were filled with transparent epoxy resin.
Walnut dining table with matching bench
Walnut set for an apartment in Sheung Shui. Walnut single slab top in satin wax oil finish on steel legs. the bench was built to match, we have cut one natural edge of the board and used it as a detail in the base of the bench.
Poplar Burl Table
We were commissioned by a local designer to build a 3m long poplar burl veneered table for her private residence in Mid Levels. Client didn’t want small repeatable pieces patched together which is a common practice and it took us some time to find the right material. Poplar veneer with all its details, knots and cracks is definitely a difficult material to work with but if processed right gives absolutely unique patterns.
